Paintball pods are a must have regardless of if you are playing recreationally or in tournaments. These will help you take more paint onto the field and keep you there longer, permitting you are not eliminated first. There are multiple companies that have their own take on different pods, some with locking style lids, some with just flick lids, some that have a higher capacity than others, and some that are shaped differently. The best paintball pods are going to be largely personal preference, but there are some points that can help you choose which ones to use.
Standard paintball pods, or flick lid style pods are the most common, the least expensive, and are usually produced by companies like Gen X Global (GXG), HK Army, Tippmann, Dye, Ect. The standard capacity for the Gen X pods are 140 rounds, it is usually the same for thus style, however some may be designed to hold more paint than others.
The next most common style of pods is lock lid paintball pods, these use some form of a mechanism to lock the lid in place, to help make sure your paint does not fall out while you are running or sliding. Lock lid style pods can vary between a button or a latch to open them depending on which company designed them, and typically have a larger capacity than the standard 140 round pods.
