Paintball slide shorts are available in a few different styles to choose from, depending on how you play paintball and the gear you use may determine which style is best for you. The standard slide shorts are going to provide protection around the groin and hips and are commonly used in conjunction with knee pads where the slide shorts end. The other style of slide shorts are typically referred to as protective bottoms or slide pants, these are essentially slide shorts and knee pads built into one garment. The advantages of Protective bottoms is that since the knee pads are built in and attached, they will not slide or move around on you as you slide or dive, they typically have groin and hip protection and depending on the style, may also have additional padding on the thigh. If you have knee pads that you already use and are comfortable with standard slide shorts may be the best option for you, if you wear very fitted pants such as joggers, typically the protective bottom style slide shorts will fit and feel better once you are all geared up.
