How to Install the Shocker ERA Accent Kit

The Shocker ERA comes in some beautiful and vibrant colors, but the accents are all black. Some may look at this as bland, or it doesn't match your setup, team colors, etc. Good thing for all of us, the Shocker ERA Accent Kits are here, and can give some much needed color and flair to your Shocker ERA! But now the question is, "how do I install this kit onto my Shocker ERA?" Don't sweat it, we've got you covered.

Before we start, here's a list of what you get and what colors to choose from!

There is no shortage of color options when it comes to this kit. Pick between red, blue, gray, gold, purple, lime green, pink, teal, or white (all in a matte finish like the Shocker itself). Each kit will come with a feedneck lever, trigger, ASA knob, eye covers, back cap, and Freak XL Barrel back.

The easiest parts to install.

The barrel back, trigger, ASA knob, and eye covers are the easiest parts to install here, so let's go over them.

  • Barrel back and ASA knob are pretty self-explanatory. Just unthread these parts and install your new ones.
  • The eye covers and trigger require an allen/hex key to remove, but it's really easy. Just simply unthread those screws, remove the respective parts, and replace them with your new ones, then thread the screws back in. The trigger may require some finesse to remove, but you just lean it forward from the top, and it should pop out.

The harder parts to install.

The last two parts to install are the feedneck lever and back cap. These two can prove to be difficult and time consuming, but once it's done, you won't have to do it again for a while.

  • The feedneck lever might be the easier of the two, and requires you to unthread the lever from the thumbwheel screw. Once that comes off, a small brass piece should fall out of the lever. Make sure you don't lose this part! Take the brass piece and put it into your new feedneck lever. Now you just need to line up the thumbwheel screw to the brass piece, and thread it in to tighten it. There is also a black piece that can come loose and fall off, and if it does, just put it back and align it properly.
  • The back cap requires some finesse for swapping out. First, take out your bolt system. If you look at it from the top, you should see a small clip holding it in place. You can use a small Allen/hex key to push the clip open, or use the tiny hole on the top of the back cap to remove the clip. If you choose the top hole, you do risk scratching the back cap. Once the clip is removed, put the core down flat so the back cap is facing straight up. You should be able to take the original back cap off. Once you have it removed, align your new back cap, and press down so it goes in place. To make sure you did this correctly, twist the back cap and the bolt locking mechanism should move. If it does, simply install the clip to lock it in place, and re-install your bolt.

Whew. Those last two parts can be a doozy. But you're done!

I won't lie, it's harder to explain how to install those last two parts via text and words over actually explaining it and showing it on video. So if anything above confuses you, I'd highly recommend watching the video.

In closing, the Shocker ERA accent kit is good value for the price, giving you extra parts if you need them, and also giving you the ability to mix and match these parts up. Whether you're coordinating team colors, going for a solid color Shocker ERA, or just giving it some life with a little more color, the Shocker ERA Accent Kit provides that much needed flair.
