The Planet Eclipse CS3 is arguably the most used and most dominating tournament grade paintball gun that is currently available, and it boasts the highest reliability of any other paintball marker out there. Even with this being an absolute workhorse of a paintball gun, it still needs to be taken care of! These basic maintenance tips will help keep your Planet Eclipse CS3 ripping with zero issues!
Cleaning and Maintaining the Bolt System:
- Make sure your marker is completely degassed. Lift up on the back cap, and pull the bolt system out.
- Try threading the bolt can off. This is the orange-gold piece. If the red piece comes with it, that's okay. If that red piece comes with the bolt can, try separating the pieces. This can be a little difficult.
- Once you have the bolt can by itself, simply push the bolt out of the bolt can.
- Now you should have three parts: the bolt, the bolt can, and the bolt guide (this is the red piece). Simply wipe off any old grease, and apply new grease to the o-rings you see. This is especially important for the o-ring located inside of the bolt can.
- Once you've finished, just put everything back together!
That's it for the basics! Now for some deeper cleaning/maintenance.
- Remove the spool. This is the long pewter piece that should be loose. Another piece from the very back of the core should come out. It looks like a small peg with a spring. Make sure you don't lose this part.
- Unthread the middle section of the core from the back of the core. This will give you access to the switch in the back.
- Use an Allen key or the spool to take the switch out. This is the red piece in the back. There is a 'shelf' that's milled inside of it allowing an Allen to scoop it out.
- Once you have all of these parts in front of you, simply wipe off any old grease and apply new grease to any o-rings you see. When you're re-installing everything, make sure the middle part of the core threads into the back of the core correctly. If the threads don't catch, flip it over.
That's all there is to it! Now it's time to test your work.
Now all you need to do is pop the core back into your CS3 and air it up! Dry fire your paintball marker 10-20 times to get a nice, even coating of the new grease over all of the o-rings. Doing this on a regular basis will keep your Planet Eclipse CS3 in perfect working order, and you'll be blasting folks off of the field every time you play.
